Expertise

Native, server, data, interfaces, 3D, AI: I master every layer of a piece of software, and how they fit together.

Agentic AI and LLMs

I design agentic harnesses and integrate LLMs into business software, with the same rigor as a critical system.

AI is nothing new to me: expert systems for fault diagnosis and industrial planning early in my career, machine learning and deep learning at Systel, LLM agents today.

  • Agentic harnesses: tool loop, context management, error recovery
  • Agent frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, Claude Agent SDK) and multi-agent orchestration
  • MCP servers to connect agents to your systems
  • RAG and embeddings over your business documents
  • Interchangeable LLM providers, with no vendor lock-in
  • Guardrails: human approval, permissions, audit log, cost control

Rust, TypeScript, Python, LangChain, LangGraph, Claude Agent SDK, MCP

Critical and embedded systems

Working together

I handle the entire software life cycle. You have a single point of contact who designs, writes, deploys and maintains your software.

Scoping

The business, the constraints, the existing systems and the risks come first. Specification, technical choices, documented architecture.

Development

Every layer: embedded, server, database, interfaces, 3D, AI agents. Readable, tested code, delivered in stages.

Deployment

Rollout, integration with your equipment and systems, field testing through to acceptance.

Maintenance

Fixes, enhancements, updates. I remain accountable for what I deliver, over time.

Engagement models

Fixed-price project

A scope, a timeline and a price agreed together. I deliver the complete software, from design to deployment.

Time and materials

Billed on time spent, for a scope that evolves: end-to-end development, or reinforcing your team on part of the project.

Audit and consulting

Architecture or code review, especially of AI-generated code: security, maintainability and consistency before going to production. A technical opinion or a fix for a specific problem, over a few days.

With or without AI agents

I read code fluently. Depending on the project, I write it myself or work with AI coding agents. Either way, I design it, review it and stand behind the result.

I work mostly remotely, and on site when the project requires it.

Background

Fabrice Lainard

More than 30 years designing demanding software, in R&D and as a technical director.

I started out in artificial intelligence, in Golden Common Lisp, building expert systems for automatic fault diagnosis and industrial planning (Concept-IA). Then came real-time acquisition and processing of ultrasonic data for non-destructive testing, notably for the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission, CEA (NDT System), followed by organizational modeling of hospitals (IQ-Santé).

As R&D Director at Physical Networks Software, I built infrastructure management software used by around a thousand customers, including the French Air Force and DCN. I then launched my own 3D data center management product (NetDCSoftware). At Systel, I was architect and product owner of crisis and major-risk management solutions for government agencies, and team lead of the “major risks” department: real-time risk analysis, big data, 3D immersion on the globe.

Today, I work independently through FL Programming.

Recommendations

“Fabrice managed the project we carried out together from end to end, from the design phase through to the on-time delivery of the product we ordered. I recommend him without reservation.”

Clément Diot, CTO

Fabrice brought us all his expertise and support to complete the development of a robot designed to observe insects for the CNRS.

He was able to take over a project already under development and propose a programming strategy across several languages, C++ and Python.

By simplifying an initially complex communication architecture, he enabled us to meet the client's needs and complete the project.

We thank him for his commitment alongside us, for his useful advice, and for successfully meeting the many challenges of this project.

We hope to work with him again soon on new systems of the same kind.

Vincent Raquin, R&D engineer, project manager, Nove3D

I worked directly with Fabrice LAINARD, a highly experienced “full-stack” developer, for more than 6 years at SYSTEL.

When Fabrice was team lead of the “major risks” department, his initiative and technical skills enabled us to deliver the most innovative and complex projects.

I witnessed his great professionalism and strong involvement in development and in research at the cutting edge of high tech. On “critical” and “high-availability” systems, he worked from prototyping through to deployment.

Fabrice demonstrated his ability to tackle problems across many areas of computing (software architecture, big data, artificial intelligence, machine and deep learning…) using a wide range of languages and frameworks (C++, Java, Angular, React, Python, Spark…).

Fabrice has very solid technical foundations, the ability to quickly grasp complex systems, and an aptitude for quickly understanding and learning new emerging technologies.

Philip Hall, operations manager, development engineering office, Systel

Fabrice supported us for several months on the development of software for the modernization of a radar and navigation system.

As the project was a modernization, the new system had to interface with the existing systems.

Since the existing interfaces were rather poorly documented, we had to iterate flexibly after trials on the test platform and on board.

Fabrice adapted to this complex and uncertain environment, going the extra mile and adjusting his schedule when necessary.

He also integrated standard and non-standard communication protocols to deliver a custom system that met the client's specifications.

Jean Gaboriau, Project Manager

I had the opportunity to work with Fabrice on the development of the graphical interface of a structural analysis software.

We were starting from scratch, and Fabrice gave us very good advice on the tools to use, and brought real added value even in defining the scope.

After several months of collaboration, we are very satisfied with Fabrice's work, both on the user interface and on scientific visualization (with VTK).

I recommend Fabrice, who will support your project with his know-how and initiative.

Amine Boumnijel, Offshore Structural Engineer

I was lucky to work with Fabrice, who was extremely professional and handled all my requests in record time! Fabrice was committed throughout the project and didn't hesitate to go beyond the scope of the contract to bring software improvements. Proactive, autonomous and great to work with! I recommend him without hesitation!

Fabrice de Maloric, CTO/CEO

We had the opportunity to work with you on a plot development project between two software packages (AutoCAD / BPWORKS), with programming that integrated these applications directly into the AutoCAD interface.

The methodologies proposed and the tools developed proved perfectly suited to our needs, which shows a good understanding of the requirements and your technical capabilities.

We were able to observe these qualities throughout our exchanges, and I would also like to commend your availability and flexibility in responding to our requests.

Looking forward to working with you again.
